A Snowy Journey to Moscow! (with Canadian National 3254)

Like us on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Blue-C… Today, Blue Comet Productions ventured north to Scranton, Pennsylvania to see one of Steamtown National Historic Site's annual Holiday Express excursions to Moscow. Fired up for these trips is Canadian National S-1-b 2-8-2 "Mikado" #3254, operated today by Bruce M. as part of an evaluation he is required to have. As the Holiday Express leaves the Scranton area, snow begins to fall, fitting for both a winter holiday excursion and a former Canadian National steam locomotive. So please enjoy this video brought to you by Blue Comet Productions!

This video was filmed on November 24th, 2012

I was wondering if this locomotive had been converting, but apparently it
was still burning coal. I found a Wikipedia article that says this 2012
excursion may well be the last time it will ever be fired up and run. It is
now on display in the roundhouse at Steamtown National Historic Site in
Scranton, Pennsylvania. Great video, thanks for making and sharing, it
really captures the sound and visceral feel of an age of trains that was
    for over a century.

My mother and I rode in one of these (possibly from Buffalo, NY to
Philadelphia) when I was @ 3 years old. To this day I know what burning
coal smells like, since it is kind of unique.

Never can get too much steam, nice video, thanks for posting. Looking at
the Steamtown web cam when do they plan in putting track back on the
turntable, it has been off a long time. Not much use the way it is.

3254 needs some work mostly a major overhaul of maintenance. They hope to
have new steam engine up and working this year. Funding to overhaul 54 may
    not be there yet.

Also, where the hell did the part about UP restoring a Big Boy even come
from?! That has absolutely nothing to do with whatever you were “trying” to
claim. Unless you prove me that you have a complete understanding of how
Steamtown operates, manages, and is funded, your argument is completely
invalid. Again, with a username like “Steamtown3254”, I’d think that you’d
have some kind of appreciation for the locomotive, but apparently you lack
hope, initiative, and basic knowledge of/for Steamtown.
