Germany’s Romantic Rhine and Rothenburg

Cruising the Rhine River, we dodge riverboat traffic and the legendary Lorelei. After climbing castles and descending into dungeons, we relax with Rhine wine. We tour Burg Eltz — a lived-in castle where the noble lady still puts out fresh flowers. Then we enter the walled town of Rothenburg for Germany’s best wood carving, a vivid dose of medieval punishment, and a tour with the night watchman of the town’s lamp-lit ramparts.

    My son is married to a German girl, living in Germany and he recently completed school to become a citizen. He's flying me and one other person out there in the fall of this year. He plans to show me everything, even the surrounding …. I can hardly wait.

    They are my cousins! Elizabeth Heidrich was wedded into my family in Elsoffer church in Schwarzenau in 1649.

    “Do not learn the ways of the nations
        or be terrified by signs in the heavens,
        though the nations are terrified by them.
    3 For the practices of the peoples are worthless;
        they cut a tree out of the forest,
        and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.
    4 They adorn it with silver and gold;
        they fasten it with hammer and nails
        so it will not totter.

    Why do we in the USA tear down the beautiful historical buildings and lose our charm?? They tore down a nice large library built in the 1960s to build a new one. I asked what was wrong with the present building. They said water problems or something like that. Not leaks. I said, what about the beautiful, huge buildings in Europe that they keep maintaining. They said I don't know.

    I was in Rüdesheim during August absolutely wonderful place. Marvelous cable car ride to the top giving you these spectacular views over the Rhine and the vineyards. Always the downer for me are the souvenier shops, you pick an item you like and find its made in China. It goes straight back on the shelf, I don't visit any country to buy a souvenier from China unless I am in China. There is nothing like finding the local hand crafts.

    Rick, I'm heading to Munich Germany for Oktoberfest. I was trying to relocate the name and location of the video that you and your wife attended a three hours spa near Bavarian, Germany ? If I'm not mistaken, that particular video was relatively old and you had your wife and kids in it.
    In addition, pls provide me any other nice spas you highly recommend, but I really liked the spa that featured you and your wife going into his and hers locker rooms to be pampered, wich had a unisex nude pool to relax in once finished with one's massages.
    Please advise,
