I am about to take off for the JaYoe World Tour 2.0… and my new trike and trailer setup has been upgraded and is ready to go. Let me give you a little tour of my new rig.
– My new trike is the same as the first one, a HP Velotechnik Scorpion 20fs, but this time I had it painted “JaYoe” yellow. Check them out here
– The front chain ring this time has been upgraded to a Schlumpf Speed Drive, instead of a bulky derailer.
– Terra Cycle in Oregon ( have hooked me up with some amazing new brackets and accessories to mount my phone, camera, and Garmin 1000 Edge cycle computer.
– My seat cover was custom sewn by a company owned by a new friend in Pakistan. His company is called Paktrike, and the seat cover he made for me is awesome! (
– Terra Cycle also hooked me up with a bracket that allows me to put 2 side bags on either side of my seat, this is going to be incredibly useful on the road!
– The side bags are from a company called Arkel (, and not only are fantastic quality and are large enough to suit my needs, but they are waterproof too. My rear panniers are the same.
– My new Trailer is awesome. Produced by a company called AIDOO in Germany (, it has been designed and built according to all my needs on the road! The ideal trailer for a trip around the world!!
– On top of that, I have upgraded and included more lights on the trailer, adding visibility, powered by a SON hub dynamo and a USB Converter E-WERK by Busch & Müller (

An Amazing Kit! So let me give you a little tour!

All the points in this video are mapped out on the JaYoe Map page, so if you are interested to go exploring yourself… you will know where to go. Check out the map page at:

The JaYoe Travelogues follow Matt as he rides his trike from China to USA. Thru 100 countries he ventures, seeing, doing and meeting along the way.

Matt, your main challenge is not weather, fatigue, or even mud splashing up… it's the thousands of vehicles that not only need to see you but navigate around that beautiful, but WIDE trailer. Your cute little yellow flag and yellow frame are woefully inadequate. You need a BIG yellow and red reflector on the back of that trailer. Something like the Amish put on the back of their buggies.

The edge doesn't have enough juice for a day trip. My Edge dies after 10 hours of riding or less. It's lousy. I turn it off when I'm in the middle of the country where there is no question where I'm going. I eventually removed it and just added a speedometer/odometer for what I needed. I will also say that schlumpf speed drive is trick but was told if I wanted to go longer than a day in USA the derailleur system is far more common and any bike store would be able to service. I was told that is not the case for the schlumpf mechanism. And my bike mechanic refused to install it and told me "no soup for you."

Did you have brakes on all three wheels on the trike? Could have been done with a second cable splitter.

That is one Sweet touring set….you've obviously poured time and cash into that vehicle.
I am praying that a trade for a KMX machine I have arranged works out.
Been an avid Push and Motor Cyclist since my first bike back in 1977…can't wait.
I am also a keen a mature photography nut and I also have a fleet of quad copter's for that reason.
Anyhow very best of luck to you I will try to keep up with your progress. ?

Oregon is pronounced like "or a gun" not "or a gone". Nit picky I know, but we Oregonians are sensitive about it. ;-)

Wow! I'm gotten nothing done today…. I'm just mesmerized over everything I've watched concerning you, and your HP Trike experiences. I'm just getting into trikes, and wanted to go after the Pedelec but after seeing how you're doing it I'm having some second thoughts. I'm ready to order my Scorpion 26 fs now but I'm really thinking about spending the extra money to electrify it in a different way now. Your Videos Have Been Game Changers 4 Me…. Keep up the great work. I'm Subscribing.
